2024 Food drive for the unhoused

What is Rotaract?  It started as an international youth program within Rotary International for young men and women over 18 and has since grown into a major organization of over 10,000 clubs spread around the world and over 200,000 members in 189 countries. The name "Rotaract" stands for "Rotary in Action."   It is a service, leadership, and professional networking organization geared toward young adults.  The avenues of service within Rotaract include Club Services, Community Service, International Service, and Professional Development.

The Rotaract Club of SOU is certified by Rotary International as a partner of the Rotary Club of Ashland, which is its sponsor, and it is a recognized student club of SOU. This RCA Rotaract Advisory Committee provides support and advice for the Rotaract Club of SOU through its officers, board, and faculty advisor. The committee assists the Rotaract club in identifying service opportunities, guiding professional development and networking activities, and helping promote Rotaract projects to the Rotary Club of Ashland and the wider community. The committee is the Rotaract Club’s principal source for information about Rotary (RCA, RI, Zones, District 5110) and helps the club to connect with other Rotary Clubs in the Rogue Valley. In addition, it facilitates the Rotaract Club’s engagement with District, Big West Rotaract, and RI opportunities. In compliance with both Rotary International and SOU policies, this committee encourages and supports Rotaract participation in Rotary service projects, fellowship events, meetings, and other activities. The committee proposes an annual budget for partial support of the Rotaract Club through the Ashland Rotary Foundation.

Examples of local Rotaract projects include: fundraising for ShelterBox USA which  hand delivers emergency shelter to families around the world who have been displaced by disaster or conflict; and "Caroling for Cans" which targeted local residents experiencing food insecurity.
